Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) herbs can be used to relieve pain, help improve and restore organ function, as well as strengthen and support the immune system. Herbal therapy is directed at the root cause of an illness to correct it, and is not given to control symptoms alone. In general, TCVM herbal prescriptions must be given for longer periods of time than pharmaceutical drugs, but the benefit lies in their natural ability to gradually return the body to a state of health and balance, with minimal side effects. Clinical results from TCVM herbs can be seen in 3 days to 2 weeks, depending on the formulation and the condition being treated. Some formulas are used for a short time in order to clear excess conditions, while others are used for longer periods of time to tonify chronic deficiencies in the body.
Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) food therapy aims to maintain balanced nutrition through diet based on TCVM constitutions and patterns in order to maintain health and prevent disease. It also can be used as part of the medical management of many disease conditions. TCVM diets consider the energetic qualities of foods and how foods can influence the long-term health of the patient. Generally, the aim of TCVM food therapy is to achieve a balance of Yin and Yang, as well as Qi and Blood, through the combination of nutrition, acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Food has been used as medicine in both humans and animals for thousands of years. 'Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food', often ascribed to Hippocrates (400 BC), and used to emphasize the importance of nutrition to prevent or cure disease.
We give you peace of mind, that you are making the right health and wellness decisions for your companion. We are an integrative, holistic veterinary consultation service with an emphasis on prevention and wellness, utilizing both conventional and alternative medicine choices, striving to bridge a gap between these two forms of healthcare.
We work with many natural pet product companies to provide the best options for supplements, herbal and natural therapies.
We also advise on food therapies and diet management.
Products can be easily ordered online through our store and shipped directly to your home.
We look forward to a long lasting partnership of health with your well loved dog or cat companion.
